Born and raised on a farm in Belem, Brazil a young Jose Gomes unlocked his passion for martial arts as a teenager. First training and competing in Capoeira at age 9, he then took up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and then carried those skills into training MMA. Jose has spent many years training alongside highly regarded fighters such as: Lyoto Machida, Glover Teixeira, Deiveson Figueiredo, Michel Pereira, Alex Pereira, Rafael Alves, King Mo, Derrick Lewis, Kevin Holland, and many more. This intensive training has translated into success. Jose currently boasts a record of 41 Professional MMA wins (20 by Knockout and 11 by Submission). With a career spanning over 20 years in professional combat sports, Jose has cemented himself as an elite combat sports athlete.

On his MMA journey, Jose has also unlocked a passion for coaching. He is invested in passing his knowledge onto the new generation of combat athletes. He excels with helping students reach their highest potential in MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, and Capoeira.
